David Kuria Mbote who is Kiambu’s youthful leader and the first Kenyan politician and public figure to come out in the public and declared his gay status, is set up a new party named- The Equality Party of Kenya, in preparation for 2017 General Elections.
In 2012, David Kuria Mbote vied for the Kiambu County Senate seat but was forced to withdraw his candidature after receiving countless death threats due to his s*xual orientation.
However, Mbote claims that this time round, he is back with a bang and no threats or intimidation will kill his spirit.
He plans to recruit 24,000 members from various Counties so as to make his party strong in the grass-roots.

While speaking during an interview concerning his new party, the controversial politician insulted Kenyans by claiming that they suffer from mental scarcity and that’s why there is alot of discrimination against gays.
Mbote is the co-founder and CEO of the Kenya Gay and Lesbian Coalition, a position he has held for long.
He also holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration and another in Finance from University of Nairobi.
